About Me

Bio image
Hi and welcome to my updated website! For those who have never viewed my site, you will see I am an art lover in many ways. I create art, decorate homes with art and wonderfully beautiful touches, produce interesting things with my original photos and art, and share information with fellow artists. This site will let you see some of the things I have done and what I’m capable of doing.

I have two businesses under which I call my operation BGT Productions. The first is my decorating business, Bev’s Golden Touch (where the BGT comes from). This covers all window treatments, faux finishes, area rugs, space planning and color consultations. The other is BGT Publishing. I self-published a book with this registered name, and use it for all of my art business. My art business includes original art, commissioned work, printing cards, prints, posters, books, canvas reproductions and hand-enhanced photos. I also mat and frame all of my own art.

I create art in several media, and you can see examples of those in the Original Art section. My self-published book, art products and decorating projects are in the other sections too. I’m making an effort to keep blog posts coming to share interesting things that are art related. You can see past posts in order to understand me a little better.

As the dust jacket of “Arches, Turrets and Ivy” reads, I reside with my husband  in Dublin, Ohio and am originally from Old Tappan, N.J.   My Fine Art degree is from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH where oil painting and printmaking were my areas of concentration.  I also got certified to teach art  K – 12.   The Fall semester of my Junior year was spent in Salzburg, Austria studying art – intaglio printmaking.  That’s when I was smitten with this region of the world.  Salzburg College was established in the refurbished stables of the renowned Von Trapp family.  It doesn’t get any more charming than that – the mansion was next door and the gazebo where “You are 16, Going on 17” was in the back.

After graduation, I worked at Glick’s Furniture Rental as an Account Executive.  For 8 years I helped apartment dwellers and executives furnish their temporary homes.  I set up model apartments and promoted the concept to apartment managers.  From there I worked with Inside Outfitters, a commercial window covering company.  For 7 years I helped hospitals, convention centers, restaurants, hotels and high-rise commercial buildings with blinds, draperies and sun control systems nationally.

My work skills assisted me in establishing my first business in 1995, “Bev’s Golden Touch” when we moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin.  I set up shop and had my own workroom contacts to be an independent decorator.  When we moved back to Dublin, I continued with the business.   After our trip to Germany and Austria in 2003, I chose to self-publish “Arches, Turrets and Ivy” with my husband’s support.  In order to do this, I established my own publishing company, albeit a Sole Proprietorship, BGT Publishing (From the Bev’s Golden Touch).

About the same time, I intentionally started back into art.  I missed the immersion into various media and took lessons from area professional artists.  I took pastel portraiture from Vivian Ripley, Watercolors from Sandy Leukart and Don Dodrill, Oils from Chuck Marshall, Michael McEwan and Joe Lombardo.  Each Thursday I paint oils at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Columbus.  It keeps me tranquil and keeps me alive inside.

Some of the various galleries and locations I’ve had solo shows include: Grange Insurance, Gallery M, Net’s Whim, Ursus Gallery, and the upper gallery of the Columbus Cultural Art Center.  Other places I’ve shown with other artists like the Dublin and Bexley Art Leagues are: Jeffrey Mansion, Catarina’s, Rhodes Tower, LaVeque Tower, MORPC, Wendy’s Corporate Headquarters, Dublin Community Recreation Center, Starbucks, Dublin Arts Council Building.  Corporate purchases have included Dublin Village Tavern, Corazon Spa and Health Club, and the City of Dublin for a Bi-Centennial work, partnered by the Dublin Women’s Club.  Four of my works were juried into three year’s of Dublin Art Calendars, and I’ve been juried into numerous Ohio State Fairs in the Fine Arts.  I’ve shown in five Dublin Art Fairs and three Bexley Art Fairs. Presently I am completing another commission for the City of Dublin which will be unveiled on September 12th, 2013. (Look at my blog page for further information.)

Besides the decorating work, I accept custom commissions.  View my separate gallery to see examples of the pet and home portraits I’m capable of.  The Decorating section shows examples of projects I’m proud of and the Products section gives an inkling of things I can do with my images and work.

I am also available to teach, or present programs or seminars on several topics: The Creative Process, Encaustics, A South Korean Folk Wedding, Glimpses of China and Mediterranean Sampler. I’m extremely involved in the Dublin, Ohio community and am proud to be in such organizations as the Dublin Area Art League, Dublin Women’s Philanthropic Club, Newcomers of North Columbus, and National League of American Pen Women.
